Introduction

After the government notification to link all documents like PAN Card, bank accounts with Aadhar Card, it became a necessary document for every individual to avail the certain facilities provided by the government of India. The Aadhar is a 12 digit identification number issued by the government of India to every individual and acts as proof of address and proof of identity of an individual. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is the authority which is mandated to issue 12 digits Unique Identification Number to all the residents of India. An individual can register for the aadhar card by visiting to the Aadhar centres set up in various banks, courts and post offices. After enrolment, one can download Aadhar Card by following given steps:

Steps to download Aadhar via using Enrolment Number (EID)

  • Visit UIDAI websites https://www.uidai.gov.in/
  • Click on “Download AAdhaar” from the ‘Aadhaar Enrolment Section’ shows on the left side of the screen.
  • You will be redirected to https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
  • Then click on ‘Enrolment ID’.
  • Enter your 14 digits enrolment ID and also enter date and time as printed on the aadhaar enrolment slip.
  • Then enter person details, full name, pin code (as printed on the aadhaar enrolment slip) and 5 digits catcha code.
  • Click on the “Request OTP” button.
  • An OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Then enter OTP and click on download aadhaar button to download E-Aadhaar.
  • Then enter the password and press submit button to open E-Aadhaar Card.

In case, an individual is having Aadhaar Card number and he wants to download aadhaar card, the whole procedure is same as given above but in that case the enrolled person needs to select Aadhar option from the “I have” Section instead of selecting enrollment ID.

Steps to download Aadhar via using 16 digits virtual ID

The Virtual ID system has recently been started by the government to secure Aadhaar data privacy. Now, one can also download aadhaar card online by this virtual ID by the following the steps given below:

  • Visit UIDAI websites https://www.uidai.gov.in/.
  • Click on “Download Aadhaar” from the ‘Aadhaar Enrolment Section’ shows on the left side of the screen.

  • You will be redirected to https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
  • Then select the VID (Virtual ID) option from the “I have” section.

Steps to download Aadhar by entering Name and Date of Birth (DOB)

One can also download E-Aadhaar even if he forgot his aadhaar number or in case of misplace of the enrolment slip by entering his name and date of birth. Steps are given below:

  • Next click on the “send OTP” button shown just below the enter security code option.
  • Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Then click to verify OTP button.
  • A message will flash out on the screen that the aadhaar number is sent to the registered mobile number.
  • After getting your EID i.e. Aadhaar enrolment ID visit the e-aadhar page and follow the steps given for downloading aadhaar via using enrollment ID.

Some Points to Remember

  • If you are not registered in UIDAI Portal, You can not able to download your aadhar card.
  • Before Downloading Aadhar card UIDAI portal send you a One Time Password (OTP) on Your registered mobile number.
  • Without One Time Password (OTP) you can’t download Aadhar card from UIDAI Portal.
  • You can easily download multiple times your Aadhar Card.
  • Downloaded Aadhar card can be used in Place for your original Aadhar card Everywhere
  • After Downloading Aadhar Card, you need a Password to open and print aadhar card.
